No Time To Cry by James Oswald #BlogTour
I am delighted to share my review for No Time To Cry by James Oswald with you on Blog Tour today
The Book
Undercover ops are always dangerous, but DC Constance Fairchild never expected things to go this wrong.
Returning to their base of operations, an anonymous office in a shabby neighbourhood, she finds the bloodied body of her boss, and friend, DI Pete Copperthwaite. He's been executed - a single shot to the head.
In the aftermath, it seems someone in the Met is determined to make sure that blame for the wrecked operation falls squarely on Con's shoulders. She is cut loose and cast out, angry and alone with her grief... right until the moment someone also tries to put a bullet through her head.
There's no place to hide, and no time to cry.
My Thoughts
Hanging my head in shame I have to admit that this is the first book that I have read by James Oswald even though I do have a his books on that mountain pile of mine. I jumped at the chance to take part in this tour with it giving me the perfect opportunity to start his books. and I sure has hell wasn't disappointed.
No Time to Cry is the first book in a brand new series introducing DC Constance Fairchild. I actually listened to the audio version of this and once I started it I couldn't stop listening to it! The Narrator has done a brilliant job of portraying the characters with the use of different accents she made me feel like I was watching it rather than reading it, of course this will also be due to the fact that the author has written a brilliant story and makes you feel like part of the story.
The story is told in first person so it worked well listening to it. Con is a strong character the more I listened to the more I wanted to know. We get to know her well in this first story when her boss is found dead.
There are some rather uncomfortable subject matters which some readers may find offensive sensitivity is shown in the authors writing they literally made me squirm.
Not having read any of his other books I am not in a position to compare. But what I can say is that I am glad that I have read this and I will soon be making a start on the authors other books.
No Time to Cry is a strong solid read that will have you hooked from start to finish readers old and new will not be disappointed.
