Cry for the Bad Man by LM Krier #Review

‘Where does a wise man hide a pebble?’

Home Office Pathologist Professor Nelson’s question marks the beginning of Detective Chief Inspector Ted Darling’s latest case. Not one he was expecting to get for him and his team. The tragic but seemingly straightforward suicide of a young man.

It’s a case where nothing is quite as it seems. There’s no shortage of potential suspects. The trouble is, they all alibi one another. The case is going nowhere. An unexpected change in the police hierarchy isn’t helping. Nor does a phone call from the Infirmary summoning Ted to the bedside of a dying man.

Ted’s detection track record is excellent. But could this enquiry prove to be his nemesis? The one that got away?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wowsers I can not believe this book number 10 which means this is actually my tenth review for this series. If you didn't know I am a massive Ted fan so has always I was pretty damn excited when I heard there was a new book coming out and couldn't wait to get stuck in.

If you haven't read this series yet I would start from the beginning although this can be read has a standalone you won’t get the full benefit of the characters. Plus it is to good a series not to miss.

Has always the author’s writing is brilliant and she certainly knows how to bring the characters to life I actually feel like I personally know them now. The story alternates between the couple and the case but has much has I love Ted and Trev I felt that there was to much drama and the storyline between them in this story which overpowered the murder case which I would of loved more of.

Lesley never shies away from an uncomfortable subject matter and this case is one of those. It is dark and gritty which I loved it wont be everyones cup of tea though. Sensitivity is shown in her writing skills. Not only are these scenes wrote so well ,but those of you that follow my reviews will know that I love gritty and I would of been fab to of read more of this.

The story grabs you from the start and I was hooked until the very end. It is full of mystery and will have you guessing Oh and not forgetting the mention of Mr Green! Those of you that have read the series will know exactly what I am talking about.

I have to say that ending is very different to to all the other Ted books making it fresh and different which I liked. Now I am left eagerly waiting for Ted 11.
