My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First of all I have to say that I don't think I did myself any favors by going to the Mark Edwards workshop at Harrogate Crime Festival. Although I had a brilliant morning I more or less knew what the story was about from start to finish. But having heard all that I couldn't wait to get stuck into The Devils Work and to find out what I think of it myself with it being very popular with other readers and bloggers.

So after a slow start I found myself totally gripped and couldn't turn the pages fast enough......I loved it!

In this story we meet Sophie Greenwood who is back at work in her dream job, after having years off looking after her daughter. But she has a nervy encounter on her first day which drags up memories from the past that she would rather forget. And starts to wonder if shes made a mistake going back.
The question is what is her ambitious young assistant really up to?! When Sophie finds her husband and daughter dragged into this roller coaster nightmare, and is forced to confront her darkest secrets.

This is one very tense thriller with plenty of OMG moments that are creepy has hell. Talk about giving me the heebie-jeebies. this story will make the hairs on your neck stand up.

I loved the past and present timeline that unfolds in this well crafted story. Fans of psychological thrillers will love it. I highly recommend it giving it 4 well deserved stars.

Thank you to Mark Edwards for a copy in exchange for an honest review.
